How Your Data Is Processed
Chat Message Processing
When you send a message, it is transmitted to our servers and processed by a large language model (provided by Anthropic) to generate a response. Your message, along with recent conversation history and the business's knowledge base content, is sent to the model as context. Anthropic does not use this data to train their models. Responses are generated in real time and are not pre-written.
Data Storage
Conversation data is stored in our database (hosted by Supabase) and is associated with the business you are chatting with. The business owner can view your conversations, contact information, and interaction history through their dashboard. Uploaded photos are stored in secure cloud storage.
Booking Data
If you book an appointment through the widget, your booking details (date, time, contact info, and any notes) are stored in our database and synced to the business's Google Calendar (if connected). You will receive a confirmation email at the address you provide.
Who Has Access to Your Data
- The business whose website you are on — they see your conversations, contact info, and bookings
- Pirch — for platform operation, support, and analytics (we do not sell your data)
- Anthropic — processes chat messages to generate responses (subject to their privacy policy)
- Resend — delivers transactional emails (booking confirmations, chat summaries)
What We Do NOT Collect
- We do not use tracking cookies
- We do not store your IP address directly (it is used ephemerally to derive approximate country)
- We do not share or sell your data to advertisers or data brokers
- We do not use your conversations to train AI models
Local Storage
The widget stores a small amount of data in your browser's localStorage to maintain your identity across page loads:
pirch_visitor_{orgId}— anonymous visitor identifier
You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage. This will start a new conversation and your previous chat history will no longer be associated with your browser.
Your Rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by contacting us at privacy@pirch.co. You can also contact the business directly to request data deletion, as they are the data controller for conversations on their website.
